Advait Utsav
A Celebration of Music and Nature

Venue: Himalayan Village
Date: November 3rd to 5th 2005
Singer: Uday Bhawalkar

Dhrupad as a form stems from the oldest traditions of Indian art music. The music is contemplative in nature and is practiced by few exponents in the country. The inaugural Advait Utsav in 2004 saw the renowned exponent of this musical form, Uday Bhawalkar, share his music with participants at Churhat Kothi, a boutique retreat situated amidst the jungles of Bandhavgarh. This year, Uday brought music closer to us yet again at an eco-retreat Himalayan Village . The early morning was embellished with musical alaaps and the evening were drenched in candlelight concerts.

Himalayan Village, with a 180 degree view of the great Himalayan peaks, was the stage where the form of sound unfolded. The Himalayan Village hospitality included morning & walks through the Mukteshwar forests, native cuisine and fruits and vegetables from the organic farm.
